Pastor Paula's Peace

I had a friend who used to say, “Two moves are as good as one fire!” That’s not true, of course, but moving does give one a chance to reevaluate, reassess and reconsider one’s belongings. I’ve spent a couple of months doing that as I’ve packed and unpacked. And I still have things I can’t quite let go of, but that I’m pretty sure are not adding value to my life.

In his book, To Bless the Space Between Us, poet John O’Donohue writes:
May your work excite your heart,
Kindle in your mind a creativity
To journey beyond the old limits
Of all that has become wearisome.

Work transitions, like all transitions, surely do give us a chance to reevaluate, reassess, reconsider what we’ve been doing and how it has blessed our life (or not!)

I am thrilled to be here at Fullerton First UMC, and, in these first three weeks, have been most especially grateful for the support and guidance of church leaders and staff. I am looking forward to a rekindled creativity (as soon as I find my stapler) and an newly excited heart (as soon as I find the ice cube trays.)

How is your “work” (whatever that may be in this season of your life) exciting your heart and kindling your
creativity?

As we grow together each Sunday, God’s spirit (breath) can do that for us.

Shalom,
Pastor Paula
