A Note from Pastor Paula

Posted by Pastor Paula Ferris on

I am a refugee from the great folk scare of the 60s and I am going full geek mode to share a little of that with you this Sunday.

If you want a preview—find it here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMoPZd-4Fq8

For decades people in churches have fought about what kind of music is the holiest.  This has usually resembled their personal preferences.  No surprise.  We’re human and we take comfort from what comforts us.  Good old Vincent Price (remember him?) used to say, “It’s not that people know what they like, it’s that they like what they know!”

In worship, this is especially true.  This week, we’ll sing one of my favorite hymns, “O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing” and we’ll get a dose of truly lovely and truly old music as the Castle Recorder provides us with some special music this Sunday.

Why does any of this matter?  Because our worship together matters!

Come get refreshed, encouraged, empowered.  Get a little joy on you!
